Aircraft maintenance is an essential activity to any airline especially in terms of airlines safety and on-time performance. Iran Air Maintenance and Engineering division with 50 years of aircraft maintenance experience has a program of further expansion and improvement. Iran Air’s new hangar and mechanical shop facilities construction is underway to completion. Iran Air’s new avionics center fully automated by various ATEC (Automatic Test Equipment Computer) and electronic test equipment is being fully utilized to overhaul and repair thousands of different components for several types of aircraft categories. The avionics center provides repair services to many domestic operators and aviation firms. According to the Airbus Industries, Iran Air Airbus fleet reliability reaching 99.6 percent is indicative of a good maintainability record and a commendable achievement for Iran Air. Iran Air maintenance standard, although expensive comparatively, is rather stringent and rigid in quality control practices. Iran Air aircraft maintenance quality control, a large department consisting of many specialists and designated inspectors double-check quite vigilantly every major repair and maintenance service performed on every component, engine, and aircraft.
